Julie Hamill~Director

Julie Hamill has taught dance in the Orange County area for over 40 years. She is the founder and director of Fine Arts Academy of Dance. Established in 1979, Fine Arts Academy of Dance was the first dance school in Diamond Bar. Growing up in Orange County she was able to study with L.A.'s and Orange County's finest teachers including Linda Sohl-Ellison, Leann Alduenda, L.A's classics such as Jimmie DeFore, Stefan Wenta, Roland Dupree, Gus Giordano, Stanley Holden, and Joe Tremaine. Professionally Julie has appeared in many theatrical productions she was a principal dancer with the Orange County Dance Company in which she performed roles in Swan Lake, West Side Story, Oklahoma, and The Nutcracker. Jana Faustino-Watkins~Ballet Director

Jana Faustino-Watkins is a native of Brazil where she studied extensively with Luis Nogueira of the Ballet Municipal of Rio De Janeiro, and taught at the Mariana Natal Academy in Sao Paulo. She also appeared in numerous stage and television shows and movies as a member of the Corpo Companhia. After immigrating to the United States she studied with Lois Ellyn and Stefan Wenta, and joined Lois Ellyn's ballet company, Noveau Chamber Ballet where she appears as a principal ballerina and choreographer. Jana's students have appeared in film and television including the hit movie The Princess Diaries. We at Fine Arts are very proud of the fact her students have been accepted to the one of the worlds most prestigious performing Arts Conservatories Juilliard in New York. Jana's beautiful dancers have performed with Cirque du Soleil. Each year many of her students are accepted into the schools of the Joffrey Ballet, Boston Ballet, American Ballet Theatre (ABT), Milwaukee Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, Alvin Ailey and Houston Ballet. Jana is currently the artistic director of Fine Arts Academy of Dance's nationally award winning ballet program.
 

 
 

Michael Van Patten~Master Teacher~Choreographer~Writer~Director

Michael Van Patten has been one of the top dance teachers in Southern California since 1988. He has taught at the legendary studios, DeFore Dance Center (1988-2016) and Tremaine Dance Center (1993-1997), as well as the University of California, Irvine, Santa Ana College, Fine Arts Academy of Dance, and many others. As a performer, he appeared on Star Search, Disney's Motor Car Mania Show, and with the Los Angeles Opera Company's acclaimed staging of “Orpheus in the Underworld,” as well as the musicals Gypsy (Tulsa), Pippin, Evita, Mame, The Robber Bridegroom, Sugar, Cabaret, and Tommy. He has also adjudicated for many dance competitions and organizations, including United Spirit Association (USA), Dance Rave, Kids Artistic Revue (KAR), That's Dancin', and many others. He has choreographed for numerous stage concerts and events for DeFore, Tremaine, UCI, Fine Arts Academy, Goldenwest College, University of Colorado, Greeley, J's Hair Studio World Tour, and the Los Angeles Clippers Dance Team. As a youngster, Michael studied music performance up to the age of twenty and played flute professionally, most notably with the Crystal Cathedral Symphony in the early ‘80's. Michael is also a writer/director, currently creating projects for film and television. His first success, The Watchers, is currently playing on the Film Festival circuit, and recently won the Best Sci-Fi Short Film Award at the Independent Filmmakers Showcase. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 2006.
 

 
 

Penny Fisher Collins

Penny began her dance training at Fine Arts at the age of six. She continued her instruction under Julie Hamill, Jana Faustino-Watkins, and Michael Van Patten and turned that into a successful career as a dance instructor and performer. Penny taught at Fine Arts while appearing in films such as Man on the Moon with Jim Carrey and What Women Want with Mel Gibson. Other credits include the 55th Annual Emmy Awards alongside Conan O'Brien and Disney's Animazement and Snow White: An Enchanting New Musical. Regional theater credits include A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, The Wizard of Oz, Me and my Girl, Crazy For You, La Cage Aux Folles, Guys and Dolls, Never Gonna Dance, and Pajama Game. Penny also studied dance at Cal State Fullerton where she earned a degree in Television and Film. She returns to Fine Arts, now as a parent, to continue her love of teaching dance.
 

 
 

Meghan Guzman

Meghan began teaching at Fine Arts in 2002 after growing up training at the Studio since age 6. She is trained in both Ballet and Jazz, and was a member of the Academy's award winning Dance team for many years under the direction of Michael Van Patten. Meghan is a graduate of the High School of Performing Arts of Los Angeles. In 2012 she began teaching and Choreographing her award winning Jazz competition team here at Fine Arts which have won numerous awards each year. Meghan is a proud Mom of her 3 girls that have all followed in her foot steps. Alyssa, Roxie and Emerson have a love of Dance like Mom. Alyssa, her oldest has worked on Stage and Television appearing on Nickelodeon as a dancer and many commercials through the years. Meghan teaches Jazz, Lyrical, Pre Ballet and Childrens Tap at Fine Arts.
 

 
 

Kristen Holleyman

Kristen is from Boulder/Denver, Colorado, and has relocated to Hollywood to further pursue her dance career. Her teaching credits include teaching at Westwoods Center of Performing Arts, and Elite Dance Academy. She enjoys teaching all ages and levels and specializes in Jazz, Contemporary and Hip Hop. Kristen has danced with Todrick Hall's musical OZ, the professional company Dream Project, John Gilettes music video "Struck" made top 20 finalists of ABDC with The RockStarz, the Denver Nuggets Dancers, MC Hammer, Coolio, Tone Loc and Otis Day. She has choreographed for studios and high schools all over the state of Colorado, as well as for Dream Project and The RockStarz, Kristen Komen, Alpine Rescue among others. In addition she is an undergraduate from the University of Colorado where she studied Spanish Literature, Secondary Education, and minored in dance. Kristen is very excited to be a part of the Staff at Fine Arts Academy.
 

 
 

Charlotte Beadle

Charlotte Beadle is another of our distinguished faculty at Fine Arts Academy of Dance, now teaching tap and jazz. Charlotte specialty is children's classes and high level tap, Charlotte has studied with Julie Hamill, LJ Tashiro Nafarette, Jana Faustino-Watkins, Michelle Clow, Michael Van Patten, Dana Dalpiaz, Marie De La Palme, Elizabeth Parkinson, Jose Costas, and Linda Sohl-Ellison, here at Fine Arts Academy of Dance, and also Jimmie DeFore Dance Center, and Orange Coast College. Her music and vocal training has been with Jan Dayne, Robert Olinger, Bill Hamill, and Theresa DeJong Pombo. Charlotte's performing credits include Tap performances with Pulse, along with the Biola Theater and Southern California Youth Theater, in productions of When You Wish Upon a Star, Beauty and the Beast, Annie Get Your Gun, The Wizard of Oz, Annie, Hello Dolly, and Honk. Charlotte is also involved with a competitve Salsa Company. Charlotte currently attends Cal State Fullerton, where she is in her final semester of earning a double Major, degrees in both Math and Dance.
 

 
 

Maddy Beadle

Maddy took her first tap class at Fine Arts Academy of Dance at age 7 and has not stopped tapping since she specializes in high level Tap. Maddy continues to polish her technique and trains in all dance styles including: Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Modern, and Lyrical. Being such a well rounded dancer has led to many dance opportunities in the Orange County and LA area. Maddy has performed numerous times at Carnival Choreographers Ball with top choreographers in the industry. She has assisted teachers at world famous conventions such as The Pulse. Maddy has appeared and choreographed for many concept and music videos and was a member of the Academy of Villains which appeared on SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE 2015-16 . Her award winning choreography in all styles of dance have won many State titles. In 2016 Maddy began putting together her competition team here at Fine Arts and is very excited to continue to grow her program in the upcoming years. Maddy is now teaching Tap, Jazz and Contemporary at Fine Arts.
 

 
 

Kai Toles

Kai joined Fine Arts staff in 2017. His expertise is in all styles of Hip Hop including popping, b boying, animation, and his specialty krump. In 2016, he appeared in an episode of Dance Moms and has performed in various festivals, also has appeared in many concept videos. Kai has trained with LA's finest: Leslie Scott, Jay Funk, Christopher "Pharside" Jennings and Krystal "Phoenix" Meraz. He has trained with Hip Hop crew Academy of Villains winners of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE 2015-16 season. He also was a featured soloist with the Academy of Villains youth team Young Skull Club. Kai has competed at many prestigious venues such as World Of Dance and Bridge Dance Competition. He has also had the privilege of directing and choreographing for many teams in the Orange County and LA area. Kai is now teaching beginning through advanced Hip Hip at Fine Arts.
 

 
 

Chaye Jackson

Chaye is now a part of Fine Arts staff and is teaching Ballet and Childrens Pre Ballet for us. Her training includes 17 years of Classical ballet. She trained with the Civic Ballet of San Luis Obispo and with Andrew Silvaggio of Santa Maria Civic Ballet along with many others. She toured from 2015-2017 with Tokyo Disneyland's King Tritons Concert as a Aerialist. She has performed with several Ballet Companies in Nutcracker, Chopinana, Alice in Wonderland and Sleeping Beauty. In 2002 Chaye danced with Moscow Ballet in Nutcracker. Chaye has been teaching Ballet since 2009 in the Santa Maria area and has now relocated to continue her dance career in the Orange and LA county area.
